1. Who provides the Service
PennyKept is operated under the trading name PennyKept by an independently operated sole proprietorship (the "Operator", "we", "us"). Support and legal contact: hello@pennykept.com. The Operator's registered details are available on request to any customer or authority that needs them.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries relating to billing and handles returns. When you buy a membership you purchase it from Paddle, under the Paddle Buyer Terms (https://www.paddle.com/legal/buyer-terms). Depending on where you live, the Paddle entity you contract with is Paddle.com Inc. (3811 Ditmars Blvd #1071, Astoria, New York, NY 11105-1803) for the United States, Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd. (22 Adelaide Street West, Suite 3400, Toronto, ON M5H 4E3) for Canada, or Paddle.com Market Limited (30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU, United Kingdom) elsewhere. Your right to use the Service itself is a contract with the Operator under these terms.
2. What the Service does, and does not do
PennyKept helps a household record what it owns, estimate how fast it is used, keep a shared shopping list and record money saved. Forecasts are estimates and are labelled with a confidence level. Savings are classified as verified, measured, estimated or opportunity; only verified and measured amounts are presented as money saved, and each amount links to the evidence it was derived from.
PennyKept is a record-keeping tool. It does not provide financial, investment, credit, tax, legal, medical, dental, nutritional or food-safety advice, and nothing in the Service is a guarantee that you will save money. Use-by dates, manufacturer instructions and the guidance of qualified professionals always take precedence over anything shown in the Service. Do not rely on the Service to decide whether food is safe to eat or how much of a medicine or hygiene product to use.
3. Accounts and households
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Keep your sign-in details private; you are responsible for activity under your account. A household can be shared with people you invite; you choose their role and can remove them at any time. Child profiles are labels under a parent's account and have no login.
You must not use the Service to store content you have no right to store, attempt to access another household's data, interfere with or reverse-engineer the Service, send unsolicited messages through it, or resell access to it.
4. Plans, what is included, and what you pay for
A Free plan is available without a card. Paid plans (Plus and Family) add days-left forecasting, receipt scanning, statements and higher limits. The current plans, prices, what each includes and the billing interval are shown on pennykept.com/pricing and inside the app before you buy. We never charge for a feature that is not built; features marked "coming later" are not part of any plan until they ship.
Receipt scanning uses automated reading of the images you upload; usage is metered per plan and shown in your account. "Unlimited" items are subject to reasonable fair use to prevent abuse.
5. Subscriptions, renewal, cancellation
Paid plans are subscriptions. They renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, as you chose) at the then-current price until you cancel. The exact amount, the first charge date and the renewal interval are shown on the checkout before you confirm, and Paddle sends a receipt for every charge.
You can cancel at any time from the Membership page in the app ("Open billing portal"), from the link in any Paddle receipt, or at paddle.net. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then and nothing further is charged. Nothing is deleted when a plan ends: items above the Free limit become read-only until you archive some or upgrade again.
If a renewal payment fails, Paddle may retry it; after a short grace period the household returns to the Free plan. If we increase the price of a plan you are on, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent.
6. Free trial
We may offer a free trial of Plus to a household once. No card is required to start it and nothing is charged during or at the end of the trial; it simply ends on the date shown in the app and the household returns to the Free plan unless you choose a paid plan at checkout. The trial length, the plan it unlocks and the end date are shown on the Membership page from the moment it starts.
7. Refunds
Refunds are handled by Paddle under our Refund Policy at pennykept.com/refunds and the Paddle Refund Policy (https://www.paddle.com/legal/refund-policy). In short: a full refund within 14 days of your first payment on request, and statutory rights where they apply.
8. Your data and your content
You own the data you enter. You grant us only the licence needed to store and process it to run the Service. You can export it at any time (Settings) and delete your account; see the Privacy Policy for what is kept and for how long. We do not sell personal data.
9. Our intellectual property
The Service, its software, design, text and imagery are owned by the Operator or its licensors. These terms do not transfer any of that to you. Product reference data from Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts is used under the Open Database License; shelf-life guidance is derived from USDA FoodKeeper (public domain).
10. Availability, beta and changes
The Service is in beta and is offered first to households in the United States, Canada and Australia. We may add or withdraw countries, change or retire features, and suspend the Service for maintenance or security. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.
11. Liability
The Service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all warranties, and our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Suspension and termination
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, after notice where practical, and we may remove content that is unlawful or abusive. Sections 2, 8, 9, 11 and 13 survive termination.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the Operator is established, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live. Purchases are additionally governed by the Paddle Buyer Terms. Before any formal step, write to hello@pennykept.com; most problems are solved by a reply.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes are announced in the app or by email at least 14 days before they apply. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new terms. Last updated 12 October 2026.
